Chaperone Guidelines
- To prevent overcrowding, please divide into smaller groups (approx. 10 students) and tour the grounds in opposite directions.
- Chaperones/Students must stay close to their group at all times.
- For safety, stay on designated paths. Walk instead of running.
- Remember many plants have spines/stickers! Please do not attempt to pick any!
- Help us keep the animals safe by picking up anything you might drop on the ground.
- Do not throw anything at any of the animals, into their enclosures or at each other.
- Water bottles are permitted but please discard them in recycle bins when you are finished.
- Make sure all food remains in vehicles until after you have exited the main gate.
- If using the picnic area please remember to share the space with others if possible.
- Be a good representative of your school/group by being respectful of plants, animals and Museum property.
- Be considerate of each other and other visitors by not blocking paths & exhibits and by using quieter voices, especially at indoor exhibits.
Help your students prepare for their field trip by showing them this short video, which explains what they will see and learn at the Museum, what the Museum environment will be like and how to behave to get the most out of their visit. Please share this link with your other chaperones as well.
